Thinking Of Me

I wonder if you think of me
While your laying alone
I wonder if you think of me
While in the cold
Thinking
I could have had her but I gave up
Were you too scared?

I wonder if you think of me
If those feelings had been real
I wonder if you think of me
If you miss me
If you miss what little we had
It wasn't love, I know
It was something else
We were so close

I wonder how different my life would be
If you had chosen me
Would we be in each others arms right now
Would you be telling me about your day?
Your hopes and dreams we'd share
It's just a dream

I wonder if you think of me
If you think of the kiss
Those nights in your sheets
I gave you my soul
You controlled it
Till you let go
I wonder if you think of me
If you regret what we shared
I wonder if you think of me
While your laying alone

Your Voice

Your voice echoes in my heart
Our words torn apart
Little pieces of paper
They floated away in the murky water
Your eyes became mine
We saw it was time

I watched as you walked away
Oh, why couldn't I make you stay?
I would fall in your arms again
I would wait for you to take my breath away

Your voice echoes in my heart
All the way to my liver
Where the alcohol has taken over
Vodka tears fall from my swollen eyes
Now I'm alone
After all these years

I watched as you walked away
Oh, why couldn't I make you stay?
I would fall in your arms again
I would wait for you to take my breath away

Your eyes I can see in the memories
That will fade over time
They wither away everyday
It's the same heartbroken lullaby
The girl with love in her heart
The guy that makes it impossible to fight
Laying alone in the night
Bottle in hand

I watched you walk away
You wouldn't stay

New Reviews!

In the Mirror by Melissa Darby

The work contained in Darby’s latest book of poetry is nothing short of intense. She allows the reader to peer into her heart and extends an invitation to share her pain, all with an intriguing use of analogy and symbolism. “I wait for the brush of your hand / To light the embers of my soul,” from Frost; and, “I watch the white lies / float / one by one,” a choice tidbit from What is Left of Me, are just two examples of Darby’s talent for metaphor. This book is not for the faint of heart. Darby pulls no punches. Her works are strong, soul-baring and completely and utterly extraordinary. Do not miss In the Mirror.
